Do medical students get a bursary?
Medical and dental students can apply for an NHS bursary in the later years of their course. 5 or 6 year undergraduate course, you can apply from your fifth year of study. 3 or 4 year graduate entry course, you can apply from your second year of study.
How much NHS bursary do you get?
Current rates for the 2019 to 2020 academic year are: £3,354 for students studying in London and living away from home. £2,389 for students studying outside London and away from home. £1,793 for students living at home.
Are NHS bursaries still available?
In November 2019, the NHS Wales Bursary was extended until 2022/23. This NHS bursary is for all UK-resident students studying an eligible healthcare course in Wales, including graduates who already have a degree.

Do I have to pay back NHS bursary if I drop out?
You do not have to pay your NHS bursary back. If you’re not eligible for a bursary you may still be eligible for student finance.
Is medicine funded by Nsfas?
NSFAS funding covers the actual cost of tuition plus prescribed learning materials -this means the tuition fee for the specific programme that the student it registered for; these fees differ depending on the field of study (e.g. engineering; medicine; art; history etc.)
What is a sixth form bursary?
In 2011-2012, the government launched the 16-19 Bursary Fund (known as the Sixth Form Bursary Fund). The Fund is to provide financial support to disadvantaged students in order to assist those students overcome specific barriers to their participation to ensure they remain within education.
